The measured viscosity of the asphalt can be very valuable information
in roofing material manufacturing in several areas of the roofing plant. The viscosity
is a good predictor of the asphalt fill ratio and can be used to adjust the shingle weight
and thickness in order to cut transportation costs and to allow better shingle packaging.
It is also economically sound since there is less asphalt waste.

These viscosity meters can
also be used in the asphalt adhesive portion of the plant to ensure that the shingles are
glued properly and that there is no wasted adhesive.
